Linda Fisher, President
Linda Fisher, M.A., Milken Educator, personifies the strong leadership necessary to motivate, mobilize, and empower a staff to become a community of learners, facilitate schoolwide change, implement standards-based learning, and increase achievement. Over the years, Linda has rallied change-making staffs, ignited sparks in leadership teams, and observed the positive results in students in schools across the nation.
Linda received the International Literacy Association and Greater San Diego Reading Associations' 2018 Celebrate Literacy Award for her lifelong efforts to promote literacy for all students.
While serving as principal at Naranca Elementary School in El Cajon, CA, her research-supported efforts transformed the lowest-achieving school in the Cajon Valley Union School District into a California and National Title I High Achieving School, as well as a California Distinguished School and recipient of the California Golden Bell Award. Under her leadership, the school became a nationally-recognized visitation site for those endeavoring to transform their literacy programs and support special-education students.
In addition to being recognized as Cajon Valley Education Foundations’ Administrator of the Year and a California Distinguished Educator, she is also the recipient of the prestigious Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award.
As Principal-in-Residence at the San Diego County Office of Education, Linda teamed with key state leaders to create statewide principal training. Additionally, she developed, implemented and led a principal coaching cadre designed to enhance instructional leadership skills. The success of the model has led to its replication in districts and counties across the state.
Linda's collaboration with the University of San Diego, as part of a grant, provided systematic schoolwide change for multiple districts. Her leadership skills were highlighted in the project as Master Trainer to the coaches, who then communicated the systems to district and site principals and teams.
Linda now serves as a mentor in the Milken Educators’ Mentor-Mentee (MMM) Mentoring Program, which pairs experienced Milken Educators with new recipients to help them build upon their strengths and expand their spheres of influence.
School districts, administrators, and teachers across the nation seek Linda Fisher's knowledge and expertise in an effort to replicate programs and create similar successful learning environments to increase literacy.
